"If a professional journalist who investigates and writes about a certain problem in detail is branded as an oppositionist, then who is the journalist who defends the government - the ruler?"
A well-known journalist, editor-in-chief of Bizimxeber.az portal Adil Huseynov wrote this on his social network account.
The editor-in-chief said that investigative journalism in the country is under strict control and repression:
"If you regret researching and writing something, you immediately become a traitor to the country, an oppositionist, an enemy... They immediately call and ask - "Are you registered? Do you have the right to write?", "Who are you to make a mess?"... A bunch of bigots pour into the social network and write whatever they want. There are so many of them that you can't even answer them all. Where do they keep this herd?
Because there is no independent press in the country, people think that a journalist should only praise the government, but should only write the good, hide the mistakes, be blind, dumb, and engage in slander when they see problems. It's not like that, without an independent press and professional journalism, the balance will be disturbed... As it is, it has been disturbed," Adil Huseynov wrote.
